Pixel Motherboard issues

This is my 3rd Pixel in 1 year. The first two were covered under the one year warranty which failed due to motherboard issues. The phones were caught in boot loops constantly. I received my third device about 2 months after my initial Project fi account set up and now (about 12 months later) that 3rd device is doing the same thing as the first two devices. When contacting support (6 times over two weeks) we tried all of the potential fixes and nothing worked. Finally they said because the device is out of warranty and that I had to pay $80 to get a replacement device.

I think it's ridiculous that not only have I had 3 devices in one year, but that the solution to a faulty hardware issue that isn't my fault is to pay an additional $80 to an already $600+ device that hasn't even lasted me 12 months.

My device has become nearly unusable now, and I was stuck between a rock and a hard place so I decided to purchase a new device while still having to pay off my old device. 

I don't think the only two options to replace a device because of issues outside of my control should be:

1) Pay an additional fee to replace your device
or
2) trade in your device for a value lower than the standing balance on that phone.
